We are thrilled to announce that Level Construction has been recognized on the national stage, winning two prestigious awards at the Registered Master Builders House of the Year competition:
These accolades highlight the exceptional craftsmanship, innovative design, and meticulous attention to detail that define our work. The winning home, located just above the Wānaka town centre, is a breathtaking intergenerational retreat built on cherished family land.
Earlier this year, this exceptional Wānaka home also received the Regional Supreme House of the Year award, along with several other accolades.
National Resene New Home $2 Million – $4 Million
This home is a stunning architectural achievement, blending modern elegance with natural elements. The abstract facade, constructed from concrete masonry and lightweight timber screening, balances shelter and openness, perfectly adapting to Central Otago’s demanding climate.
Inside, the home’s design harmoniously pairs solid concrete walls with warm, timber-wrapped dining, kitchen, and joinery elements. The kitchen’s stone countertops introduce vibrant textures, while playful design elements—like crazy stone paving in the living room—pay homage to the original family home. Two bedrooms, each featuring private Zen gardens enclosed by charred cedar screens, add to the serene ambience.
The cohesive and thoughtful design fosters a sense of calm and continuity, creating a home that is as functional as it is beautiful.
National Plumbing World Bathroom Excellence Award
This award-winning bathroom redefines luxury. Shared by two bedrooms, it seamlessly integrates natural elements, offering an unparalleled experience. From the shower, residents can enter a private Zen garden enclosed by charred cedar screens, complete with a maple tree and a stone platform for open-sky showers.
This tranquil retreat embodies the essence of an exotic day spa, offering a serene sanctuary that blends indoor and outdoor living in perfect harmony.
A Testament to Excellence
This project reflects the powerful collaboration between Level Construction and architect Roberts Gray. With a focus on environmental sustainability, the home incorporates features like double-skin construction, durable Japanese charred cedar, thermally broken joinery, and solar panels.
The judges commended the home for its balance of craftsmanship and materiality, celebrating its ability to evoke calm while addressing the challenges of modern living.
We are immensely proud of this achievement and extend our heartfelt thanks to our talented team, collaborators, and clients. This home is more than a residence—it’s a sanctuary that exemplifies our passion for creating inspiring spaces.
