We are thrilled to announce that Level Construction has been honoured with the Regional Supreme House of the Year award at the Southern Registered Master Builders House of the Year competition. This prestigious recognition celebrates the exceptional craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail that defines our work. The winning home, an intergenerational retreat located just above the Central Otago town of Wānaka, exemplifies what it means to create a true family sanctuary.
Built on land cherished by the client for over 20 years, this 309 sqm residence is both a private haven and a stunning architectural achievement. The street-facing facade, with its solid masonry forms and light-filtering timber screens, offers a striking yet abstract appearance, designed to adapt to a changing climate and urban landscape. Inside, the three-bedroom retreat effortlessly blends formal and relaxed elements, featuring four garden courtyards, a terrace, and an arrival court. The home’s flow seamlessly transitions from the interior to the outdoor spaces, offering framed views of the surrounding mountains from a light-filled interior. Stone steps connect a series of interconnected gardens, culminating in a spacious central courtyard that serves as the heart of the house. This project was a collaborative effort between Level Construction and architect Roberts Gray, and it reflects a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. Key features include double-skin construction, durable Japanese charred cedar, thermally broken joinery, and solar panels. In addition to winning the Regional Supreme House of the Year award, the home also received several other accolades:
- Regional Category Winner
- Regional Plumbing World Bathroom Excellence Award
- Regional Interior Design Award
- Regional Gold
The judges praised the high standard of craftsmanship displayed throughout the build, highlighting the excellence in carpentry, joinery, tiling, interior block laying, and concrete work. This recognition reinforces our dedication to delivering top-quality projects that not only meet but exceed our clients’ expectations. We are immensely proud of this achievement and look forward to continuing to deliver exceptional homes that stand as testaments to our passion and expertise in construction.
